Stunning silver and white fronds adorn this deciduous fern. An excellent background plant standing broad and tall and complementing everything around it.

Is a deciduous fern that forms a small, rounded mound of narrow fronds. It reaches about 30cm tall and just slightly wider, spreading very slowly. It is slow to establish and will often take a year or two to settle into a new location.

Osmunda cinnamonea
Hardy. Has very decorative young fronds covered with white, woolly hairs and emerging thin, delicate yellow-green foliage. The mature fronds are bluish-green, but, with age, turn to a cinnamon-brown. Fertile fronds have clusters of round capsules on the stem which turn from bright to dark green. A most unusual fern which can be grown as a marginal.

The large, evergreen fern is a native of Britain, with soft, dark green fronds that emerge upright before unfurling and falling softly open. Try it among other foliage plants at the front of a shady, well-drained, border or beneath deciduous trees.
